Assignment #9-Myth Retold
Many years ago, there was a very beautiful woman named Medusa. She had long shiny hair, large green eyes, fair skin, and deep red lips. She lived in my patron city of Athens, Greece. Every day Medusa would talk of nothing other than herself to her friends and whenever she was alone she would stare at her own reflection for hours on end. Medusa was selfish and thought that she was better than everyone else because of her superior looks. Even though I am not exactly ugly myself, with shoulder length blonde hair and deep green eyes I understand that in order to achieve being successful you must not rely upon looks alone. Medusa never understood that.

One day as Medusa walked through the busy city of Athens filled with noisy, loud, people at midday with the sun shining down (even though it was not as shiny as Medusa's hair) she started bragging to her friends as they walked into one of my temples. She told them all once again how beautiful she thought she was and even went further to compare herself to my statues inside of the temple. She thought it was a shame to have this temple be wasted on myself because I was not nearly as pretty as she was. She concluded that maybe one day they would build an even grander and more magnificent temple for her. Because of her sharp words, everyone became uncomfortable to be around her and left. However, she was too busy to notice because she was staring once again at her own reflection. Then, her reflection slowly changed into me.
I told Medusa how vain and stupid she was acting. While everyone else was out working or learning she was just sitting around all day looking at herself and boasting. Medusa dared to challenge me after I scolded her. She told me that she was making other peoples lives better by letting them gaze upon her. I knew she would never learn, and turned her into a terrible monster. Her skin became shallow and green, her eyes beady and narrow, and vicious, hissing snakes sprouted from her head to replace her shiny locks. Anyone who looked at Medusa would be turned into cold stone waiting to crumble away for centuries on end. I sent her away to the ends of the earth to live with the blind monsters and the gorgon sisters so no unfortunate passerby would turn into stone. And there Medusa stayed, getting what she deserved for daring to compare herself to me.

Assignment #8-Resolution
After I argued with Medusa, and turned her into a monster, I sent her away. For the resolution, Medusa was sent away to the end of the earth to live with the blind monsters and the gorgon sisters so nobody innocently looking at her would be turned into stone. From that point on, Medusa could no longer revel in her beauty, or act condescending to everyone else. Also, I taught everyone else a lesson on what would happen if they dared challenge me, or compare themselves to me especially inside one of my temples.

Assignment #7-Climax
When I encountered Medusa in my temple she thought that it was wasted on me, and hoped that one day they would build an even grander temple to match her beauty.  Everyone became uncomfortable to be around Medusa, so they left the temple quickly. She was too busy looking at her own reflection to notice. How could someone be that vain?! I knew that she needed to be taught a lesson....after all, while everyone else was off working or learning Medusa was boasting about her superior looks. After I told her how stupid and foolish she was acting, she dared to argue with me. I understood that she would never change so I justly turned her into a horrible monster. I am wisdom and I keep order especially with those who dare challenge me. Medusa got exactly what she deserved.

Assignment #6-Conflict
In the myth the story of Medusa and Athena major conflict. The conflict is propelled by Medusa's attitude. Everywhere she goes, she is always comparing herself to others and believes her looks are superior to everything-including all of the Gods and Goddesses. At the climax of this story Medusa is inside a temple dedicated to me. She dared to say that this temple was wasted on me, and should be for her. Because of her sharp, careless words I became very angry with her. The conflict was between Medusa and myself. Being the goddess of wisdom, I understood why beauty is not always important but Medusa thought otherwise. She treated everyone less than herself and thought she was superior to everyone and everything. You must not challenge the gods, we are very powerful and will teach those a lesson who deserve it. Medusa dared to compare herself to me and very soon regretted it.

Assignment #5 Character Development

In this myth, there are two main characters. Medusa and myself. Before I cured her, Medusa was beautiful. She had milky white skin, shiny hair, deep green eyes, and lips redder than a rose. Everywhere Medusa went she acted self-important and arrogant. She thought she was more beautiful than anything on earth, even the gods. In this story I look how I always look. White greek toga, blonde hair, and green eyes. I am angry in this story at Medusa for daring to compare herself to me. After she is cursed, Medusa looks hideous. Her hair is a tangled mess of hissing snakes, her skin is shallow and green, her eyes narrow and snakelike and anyone who looks at her will be turned into stone.

Assignment #4-Setting
The setting for my myth is in Athens, Greece. The city is filled with busy people, going on with their busy lives. There are many statues in Athens, mostly of Athena because she is the patron Goddess of this city. Buildings are white, with tall, looming pillars surrounding them. The setting sounds busy, people talking to each other, the sound of footsteps, horses, and laughter. In Athens, at the time of this myth, the feel would be people bumping into you and the warm sun shining down on everyone. The smell of horses, polish on the marble statues, and copper scent from money would be floating in the air.

Cultural Refrences
As Athen's patron Goddess, I am known by various people. There are many things that I am referenced in. There is a Greek relief sculpture made in 470 B.C. called "Mourning Athena." It is displayed at a museum in Athens, and depicts me, either tired or sad. Another cultural reference was Parade of the Athletes song in 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Part of this song was named after me, Athena. I am also in Marvel comics as Athena, member of the Olympian Gods. In many of these comic books, I am a regular recurring character.

Athena on cover of Incredible Herculese
    Attributes Part 2
Since I am goddess of war, wisdom, and weaving I do many things. I have taught mankind several things. The women have learned sewing and weaving, and the men have learned agriculture and metallurgy. I give those who need it advice and wisdom. I protect heros going off to war and their return. My symbols are the spear and shield which I have fastened Medusa's head in front. My tree is the olive tree, which I created, and my sacred animal is the owl, a symbol of wisdom. When Zeus swallowed my mother Metis who was carrying me at the time, he acquired a headache later. Hermes spit his head open and I emerged fully grown in a full suit of armor. I came from Mt. Olympus. I am the patron goddess of Athens and was worshiped there. In many temples there are sacrifices offered. My animal is the owl, so those are one of the perferred sacrifices. I am associated with the post-classical culture. It resurfaced in the middle ages and during the French Revolution. I personified the miracles of freedom and republic. Some of my personality traits are creativity, intelligence, but my flaws are jealousness. My closer friends are Odysseus, Perseus, Heracles, and Nike. My enemies are the Trojans, the Titans, Medusa, and Arachne.

Attributes Part 1

My name is Athena, though I am also called Trigeneia, Minerva, Menrva, Onca, and Mentor. I am known as the Greek Goddess of wisdom and war. Anyone can recognize me by my oval face, thick shoulder-length blonde hair, and tall figure. I am always seen wearing a spartan tunic without sleeves and a cloak. I am usually wearing or carrying a helmet. My father is Zeus(king of the Gods), and my mother was his first wife Metis. I have no children and have never been married. I am known for my wisdom but I also have the gift of disguise, strength, and weaving. For me, reason rules over being compassionate or emotions this being my weakness.
